Hyderabad, Nov 4 Fourteen second-year MBBS students of Government Medical College in Kamareddy district of Telangana were suspended for allegedly ragging their juniors, officials said on Wednesday.

The freshers complained to the National Medical Commission (NMC) alleging ragging, the college principal, Dr B Valya, said.

The college authorities, after receiving the complaint from the NMC, found out that the second-year students, who are day scholars, entered the hostel premises last month “unauthorisedly.”

In the complaint, the freshers alleged that they were told to accurately tell the names of the seniors and to greet them frequently.

After a meeting of the Anti-Ragging Committee, disciplinary action was initiated against 14 senior students, and they were suspended from academic activities for a period ranging between four months and six months, the principal said.

The police were also informed about the ragging, and they conducted an inquiry.
