Amaravati, Sep 30: The Andhra Pradesh wing of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Wednesday demanded an independent inquiry into alleged irregularities in the state’s teacher recruitment process, including the Mega District Selection Committee (DSC)-2025 recruitment.
Addressing a press conference, CJP office-bearer Chetan Pramod said there was strong evidence suggesting anomalies in the DSC teacher selection process and called for an investigation by an independent agency.
What is DSC row ?
The Mega DSC-2025 recruitment drive, which was conducted to fill more than 16,000 teacher posts, has become a subject of controversy in Andhra Pradesh, with allegations relating to aspects of the examination and selection process.
Opposition parties and some aspirants have raised questions over TET eligibility, sports-quota certificates, candidate verification and other aspects of the recruitment process. The state government, however, has rejected the allegations and maintained that the recruitment was conducted in accordance with the prescribed rules and procedures.
YSRCP Demands CBI probe into DSC
The controversy has also seen demands for an independent or CBI inquiry. Former Chief Minister and YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy recently submitted a representation to the Andhra Pradesh Governor seeking a CBI probe into alleged irregularities in the DSC recruitment process.
Pramod claimed that some teacher recruitment aspirants had approached CJP leaders and alleged that the DSC issue was being “hijacked” by political parties.
“There are strong proofs. When there are allegations on one side and another argument from the other side, we have to do justice in between. We need an independent investigative agency. Regarding DSC, we want an independent investigation to be conducted,” he told reporters.
He said the DSC recruitment issue would be discussed with the CJP’s national leadership, following which the organisation would take a decision on its further course of action. Pramod also claimed that Andhra Pradesh has a high unemployment rate among Gen Z youth, citing a figure of around four per cent.
Separately, he demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, alleging that the legislation under which he was appointed was flawed.
He did not provide further details at the press conference on the specific provisions of the legislation or the alleged irregularities in the teacher recruitment process.
