Tadepalli, Sep 24: YSRCP president and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy held a meeting with the party’s regional coordinators at Tadepalli on Thursday, focusing on preparations for the upcoming local body elections.
During the meeting, Jagan directed the regional coordinators to identify potential party candidates at the earliest and field strong and capable candidates in the local body elections. He stressed the need for a serious electoral campaign and said that decisions taken during the candidate-selection process should also strengthen the party for future elections.
Jagan asked the regional coordinators to consult all sections of the party before finalising candidates. He advised them to hold multiple rounds of discussions with party leaders and workers, gather their views and prepare the candidate lists after taking all relevant opinions into consideration.
He also called for efforts to bring the party organisation together and lead the cadre collectively into the elections.
Jagan also instructed party leaders to take the alleged failures of the Chandrababu Naidu government during its two-and-a-half-year tenure to the people. He asked the coordinators to reach out to every household and explain what the YSRCP claims were achievements of its previous five-year administration, while highlighting what it describes as setbacks under the present government.
He called on party leaders to explain the difficulties and losses that, according to the YSRCP, people have faced during the current government’s tenure.
Jagan also alleged that the Chandrababu government could attempt to use police and other means to influence the local body elections. He told party leaders to be prepared to respond to such situations and to keep alternative strategies in place wherever necessary.
The meeting was attended by YSRCP regional coordinators Botsа Satyanarayana, Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy, Y.V. Subba Reddy, Alla Ayodhya Ramireddy, Peddireddy Mithun Reddy, Kurasala Kannababu, Gudivada Amarnath and Boodi Mutyala Naidu.
