Vijayawada, Sep 23: YSR Congress Party president and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy met Governor S. Abdul Nazeer and complained about the alleged irregularities in the DSC recruitment process. He also raised the issue of the September 21 incident in which YSRCP leaders and unemployed candidates were allegedly attacked during a protest near the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) office.
Speaking to the media after meeting the Governor, Jagan said he explained in detail how the alleged DSC irregularities affected unemployed youth. He said the recruitment process needs an independent investigation to restore confidence among students and job aspirants. Jagan demanded a CBI inquiry into the alleged scam and called for the resignation of Education Minister Nara Lokesh.
Jagan said the alleged irregularities were based on four major issues. He claimed that examination-related responsibilities, including question-paper preparation and examination management, were placed under the same authority. He also raised questions over the role of outsourcing employees and referred to the case of an employee named Naveen, who he claimed initially secured the first position in the merit list but was later removed from it.
He also questioned the government’s decisions regarding sports quota recruitment. Jagan alleged that G.O. Nos. 4 and 47 created a system through which candidates could be recruited to teaching posts without appearing for the regular DSC examination. He questioned the recruitment of 372 candidates under the sports quota and asked why G.O. Nos. 23, 25 and 56 were later brought in to change the rules.
Jagan further alleged that fake or questionable sports certificates were used by some candidates to obtain teaching jobs. He referred to allegations involving judo and softball certificates and claimed that some sports associations were involved in issuing certificates. He said these issues had already been raised by the YSRCP with supporting documents and evidence.
He also questioned the police response to alleged audio and video evidence related to the recruitment controversy. Jagan claimed that although a phone number was visible in an alleged conversation circulated on social media, the person behind the number was not identified or arrested.
Jagan then spoke about the September 21 protest near the SAAP office. He said the YSRCP had informed the authorities in advance about its plan to conduct a peaceful protest over the DSC issue. According to him, instead of allowing the protest to take place peacefully, the government allegedly arranged a parallel protest and brought TDP supporters to the location.
Jagan alleged that TDP workers attacked YSRCP leaders and unemployed candidates during the protest. He also claimed that police action was taken against the protesters instead of those who allegedly attacked them. He questioned the registration of serious criminal cases against unemployed youth and YSRCP cader who, according to him, were only demanding a transparent recruitment process.
He further criticised the alleged opening of rowdy sheets against some DSC protesters. Jagan said that peaceful protests should not result in actions that could damage the careers and future prospects of Youth. He said people should have the right to question the government when they believe there are irregularities in a recruitment process.
Jagan said the issue was ultimately about restoring trust in government examinations. He said students preparing for competitive examinations should have confidence that recruitment will be conducted fairly and transparently. He reiterated that the YSRCP would continue its demand for a CBI inquiry and accountability over the alleged DSC irregularities.
