New Delhi, Nov 4 State-run NBCC (India) Limited has completed the restoration and renovation of a 1930s heritage bungalow on Janpath in three and a half months at a cost of around Rs 6.5 crore, with the property being handed over for the use of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on October 22.

Bungalow No. 1 on Janpath Road underwent extensive structural repairs and renovation after years of wear and tear, with the project aimed at strengthening the ageing structure while retaining its original architectural features, according to the statement issued on Wednesday.

Naidu expressed satisfaction with the work and appreciated the preservation of the bungalow’s historical design alongside the addition of modern amenities.

The renovated property has upgraded interiors, sustainable net-zero energy features and landscaped surroundings.

Built in the 1930s, the heritage structure required extensive retrofitting and reinforcement to address its deteriorating condition. NBCC completed the work within three and a half months.

“Every heritage building carries a story, and restoring one demands both engineering precision and deep respect for its history. Bringing this landmark back to life in just three and a half months is a testament to the dedication of Team NBCC and our unwavering commitment to quality and timely delivery,” NBCC Chairman and Managing Director K P Mahadevaswamy said in a statement.

National Buildings Construction Corporation Limited (NBCC LTD) is a Navratna public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. It has undertaken several redevelopment and construction projects for central and state government organisations across the country.
