New Delhi, Nov 4 The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has doubled parking charges at its parking lots from November 1 to February 28, 2027, as part of measures to discourage private vehicle use and tackle air pollution in the national capital.

The revised rates will remain in force during the four-month period or until the implementation of Stage II of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP), whichever is earlier, according to a public notice issued by the NDMC’s Parking Management System Department.

The civic body informed that the measure was being implemented in compliance with directions issued by the Delhi government’s environment and forest department through a notification dated June 23, 2026, under Section 5 of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986.

“The above measure is being implemented in compliance with the directions issued by the Government of NCT of Delhi with the objective of discouraging the use of private vehicles during the specified period and addressing air pollution in Delhi,” the notice stated.

However, the enhanced charges will not apply to electric vehicles and monthly parking passes, it said.

The NDMC has asked users of its parking facilities to pay the revised charges with effect from November 1. The rates may be modified or withdrawn earlier by the competent authority or through subsequent government directions, the notice stated.
