Hyderabad, Oct 19 Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Monday inaugurated the Future City Police Commissionerate building at Ibrahimpatnam and laid the foundation stone for the NIUM complex on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
Congress MPs Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy and Mallu Ravi, several ruling Congress MLAs, DGP C V Anand and Future City Police Commissioner Tarun Joshi were present on the occasion, a press release said.
Later, the CM visited the under-construction Young India Skills University in Bharat Future City, which the state government is developing on the city’s outskirts.
Reddy had earlier said the government aimed to build the ‘Bharat Future City’ in a way that it would “compete” with world cities like Singapore.
The National Institute of Urban Management complex will be built at an estimated cost of Rs 200 crore on 20 acres allotted free of cost by the state government in Future City, the release said.
The construction of the NIUM complex was sanctioned in 2009 under the Centre’s Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM).
A Central government committee had then agreed to provide Rs 50 crore on the condition that the state government offered land. However, the land was not allotted at the time. The state government has now cleared the way for the project by offering land in Future City, the release said.
Revanth Reddy directed officials to complete the construction by June 2, 2028, which is Telangana Formation Day.
