New Delhi, Nov 7 The BJP on Saturday attacked Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, questioning their silence on a woman’s demand for a fresh CBI investigation into a case involving party leader Harak Singh Rawat in Uttarakhand.

Jenny, an unmarried mother and the central figure in the high-profile ‘Jenny case’, which caused a stir in Uttarakhand politics over two decades ago, has claimed that she did not receive justice during the previous CBI probe. She reiterated her demand to reopen the CBI case against Rawat.

With the issue resurfacing ahead of assembly elections scheduled next year, Jenny, during a press conference, claimed that Harak Singh Rawat is her son’s father and also demanded a fresh DNA test.

She alleged that Rawat, who was a minister at the time, raped her, and that her son is his child. Currently, Rawat is the chairman of Uttarakhand Congress’ election management committee.

BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi termed Jenny’s allegations “very serious” and targeted Sonia Gandhi, asking, “why there is neither any sign of empathy for the victim nor any word from the senior Congress leader who was shedding tears over the demolition of the “disputed structure” of Babri Mosque.

Priyanka Gandhi, who says ‘laki hoon. lad sakti hoon’, has also kept mum on the allegations levelled by the women against the Congress leader, the BJP Rajya Sabha MP charged.

“This deafening silence of Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi is deeply painful and distressing,” Trivedi added.

Refuting Jenny’s allegations, the former Uttarakhand minister said the CBI had already given him a clean chit, and the court had also closed the matter.
