New Delhi, Nov 2 Advanced medical facilities should be brought closer to communities to ensure people have access to timely and specialised healthcare, Union Minister of State for Corporate Affairs Harsh Malhotra said on Monday.

“Accessible and specialised healthcare is a critical requirement for a growing urban population. Efforts to bring advanced medical facilities closer to communities play an important role in ensuring citizens have access to timely and focused care,” Malhotra said.

He was speaking at the inauguration of three new centres of Gut Clinic, a specialised healthcare network focusing on gastroenterology, liver and metabolic health, in Lajpat Nagar, New Friends Colony and Gurugram.

The expansion is part of the company’s broader effort to make specialised outpatient care more accessible and closer to home for patients across Delhi-NCR, a statement said.

Gastrointestinal, liver and metabolic health concerns often require detailed evaluation, ongoing monitoring and coordinated care. The new centres offer targeted services, including consultations from specialist doctors, diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopies, day care services and advanced gastro and liver diagnostics, the statement said.

The network is designed to provide patients with direct access to medical care while supporting continuity of treatment and follow-up.

The expansion highlights Gut Clinic’s unique approach to outpatient healthcare, which operates through both standalone clinics and shop-in-shop models integrated within established hospitals.

The company is targeting a network of 50-plus clinics in the next five years across India.

“Our foundation is built on a 4O-plus year legacy of clinical excellence and the ethical practice of my father, Dr Ajay Kumar. We aim to build the largest network of gastro, liver and metabolic ambulatory healthcare centres across India and, in doing so, re-imagine the look and feel of outpatient healthcare in our country,” Dr Akshat Kumar, founder and CEO, Gut Clinic said.

As Gut Clinic expands its footprint, the company plans to strengthen its operational capabilities by integrating AI systems, real-time performance management infrastructure, and advanced gastro diagnostics across its network of clinics.

“We aim to marry the best of traditional doctor-driven, trust-based outpatient practice with the latest in operational, AI and business know-how from the West, Dr Akshat Kumar added.
