New Delhi, Oct 2 Rachnatmak Congress members on Friday pledged to always follow Mahatma Gandhi’s values and celebrate the rich diversity of India.
“Rachnatmak Congress” is a Congress wing that works with civil society.
On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, the Rachnatmak Congress took a pledge on the values of Bapu.
“The pledge captures the values of India’s freedom struggle and the constitutional values that our nation stands upon,” a statement said.
“The pledge celebrates the rich diversity of India. Though our people follow different religions and belong to different castes and creeds, we stand together as one nation, bound by the timeless principle of Unity in Diversity,” it said.
In recent years, the nation has witnessed repeated diatribes and attacks on the great leaders under whose leadership India attained its freedom, including Mahatma Gandhi and Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the Rachnatmak Congress said.
Such attempts to diminish their legacy are deeply concerning, it said.
“It is important for every citizen of India to understand the values which inspired our freedom struggle led by Mahatma Gandhi, whom we in the Rachnatmak Congress fondly call Bapu. Their sacrifices gave us our freedom, our Constitution, and our democracy, and it is our shared duty to honour and protect their legacy,” the Congress wing said.
