Guntur(Andhra Pradesh), Sep 29: A court in Guntur district has dismissed the case against youths who were accused of attempting to murder a police constable in Tenali, citing insufficient evidence to establish the allegations.
The case had attracted widespread attention after three accused youths were allegedly beaten by police personnel in public. The incident triggered criticism over the alleged use of excessive force and third-degree methods by the police while dealing with the accused.
Tenali Constable Attack Case
The case dates back to April last year, when the Tenali Two Town Police registered a case against four youths, alleging that they had attacked Constable Chiranjeevi and attempted to kill him.
Three of the accused were subsequently taken into custody. During the course of the incident, they were allegedly taken around Tenali((In Guntur District)) town and made to sit on the roadside. Police personnel were then seen beating them with sticks in the presence of members of the public.
Videos of the Tenali police public beating incident later surfaced on social media, drawing widespread attention and criticism. The incident raised questions about the manner in which suspects were being treated and whether proper legal procedures were being followed.

Court Finds Insufficient Evidence
The allegations against the youths were subsequently examined by the court. During the proceedings, the prosecution’s evidence relating to the alleged attack on Constable Chiranjeevi was considered.
According to the court’s findings, the evidence was insufficient to establish that the accused had attempted to murder the constable. The court therefore dismissed the case against the accused.

The Tenali youth beating case became a subject of public discussion after videos of the alleged police action emerged. The dismissal of the criminal case now adds another significant development to the episode.
The case highlights the importance of establishing criminal allegations through evidence before a court and ensuring that the rights of accused persons are protected during investigation and custody.
