Pathanamthitta (Keralam), Nov 3 A Youth Congress leader was taken into police custody on Tuesday in connection with an alleged ruckus at Adoor police station in July this year.

Jayakrishnan Pallikkal’s arrest will be recorded after completing necessary formalities, police said.

Pallikkal was taken into custody hours after Keralam Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala assured strict action against those involved in the alleged assault on a YouTuber inside the police station.

Chennithala had said that nobody would be treated differently under the law, irrespective of their political identity or position.

“The law is equal for everyone, and nobody has the right to violate it,” he told reporters, adding that a case had already been registered in connection with the July incident and one person had been arrested. The minister was responding to questions about CCTV footage, aired by television channels on Saturday, which purportedly showed a group of Youth Congress workers assaulting YouTuber Rajan Joseph inside Adoor police station.

Joseph was arrested in July following a complaint by Congress district panchayat member Sreena Devi Kunjamma, alleging that he had posted defamatory content about her on social media.
