New Delhi, Sep 25 Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh highlighted the transformation of a woman in Kuppam who went from working in a brick factory to running one herself and employing 20 people, as an example of the state’s ‘P4’ model of inclusive growth.
Speaking at a fireside chat organised by the Public Affairs Forum of India (PAFI) here, Lokesh shared the success story of the woman who achieved the transition within a year with an investment of just Rs 60,000, supported by guidance on bookkeeping, identifying new markets, sales and marketing.
The example came from Kuppam, the constituency of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Lokesh said.
“Money alone cannot transform the lives of people below the poverty line. Ideas, exposure, guidance and industry experience can play a crucial role in helping people improve their livelihoods,” he said.
He said the P4 model — Public, Private and People Partnership — seeks to ensure that the benefits of development reach disadvantaged sections while promoting inclusive growth.
“The real value of industry involvement lies in sharing the experience and knowledge of business leaders with people at the grassroots level,” he said.
Lokesh said practical experience and the journeys of successful entrepreneurs can often provide lessons that are difficult to acquire in business schools, and stressed the need to take such knowledge to rural communities.
He also highlighted the participation of companies in adopting government schools as part of his Human Resource Development portfolio. Their involvement, he said, goes beyond improving infrastructure to include curriculum development, early-age skilling and life-skills education from Class 6.
Students are being introduced to practical subjects such as managing a family budget and understanding what it takes to become a successful farmer, he said.
Such collaboration among industry, government and communities is helping transform rural Andhra Pradesh, Lokesh said, describing it as the P4 approach adopted by the state.
