Chikkaballapura (Karnataka), Sep 25 (PTI) Two persons were arrested for allegedly engaging in provocative messages in a closed social media group as part of a suspected terror-related conspiracy to disrupt public peace, police said on Friday.
One of them was arrested on Wednesday, while the other was held on Thursday, they said.
Without disclosing their identities, police said that of the two, one is a resident of Chikkaballapura, while the other has been staying in Karnataka for some time.
According to Chikkaballapura Superintendent of Police Padmini Sahoo, preliminary investigation has revealed that the duo was allegedly part of a conspiracy to hamper public peace.
In the closed social media group, they were allegedly engaged in discussions related to a suspected terror conspiracy to disrupt public peace, she said.
“There were some provocative messages in a closed social media group and, based on that, we registered a case. The investigation is underway. We have arrested two persons and taken them into custody for further investigation,” the officer said.
Details about their backgrounds, motive and whether they were part of any larger group will be established only after further interrogation, police said.
