Hyderabad, Oct 6 The Telangana government on Friday reduced the fares of the common pass for Hyderabad Metro and RTC bus services.
State Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said the price of the monthly pass has been reduced from Rs 8,500 to Rs 4,000.
Calling the decision a “Deepavali gift”, he said the government’s aim is to ease the financial burden of commuting on citizens.
“The decision aims to make public transport services more accessible,” he said in a statement.
The price of the daily pass has been reduced from Rs.400 to Rs.275.
The revised fares will come into effect on the occasion of Deepavali on October 8, he said.
The government decided to reduce the common pass fares because existing prices were considered too high, he added.
The state government launched the common pass, which can be used in both Metro train services and RTC buses in the city on October 2.
