Nagpur, Sep 23 Ramtek Lok Sabha MP Shyamkumar Barve on Wednesday alleged that the draft electoral roll for Maharashtra under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 contains several errors in his constituency and demanded corrections and re-verification.
While 25,801 duplicate voter records were found in his constituency, the draft roll carries old photographs of many residents despite attaching new photos to the enumeration forms during the SIR process, he said. In some cases, photographs are reportedly missing altogether, he claimed.
The draft electoral roll for Maharashtra under SIR 2026 was published on August 31.
The Congress leader said the process of re-verification, scrutiny and mapping of voters was carried out before the draft electoral roll was prepared, but the draft list still contains so many errors in his Ramtek constituency in Maharashtra’s Nagpur district.
He said that a thorough investigation was necessary to determine how a voter’s record could remain at two different locations even after the SIR exercise.
The MP and Congress leaders met the Nagpur collector, demanding a probe. Before publishing the final electoral roll, all necessary corrections should be made, Barve added.
