Aizawl, Nov 7 Mizoram Tourism Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar on Saturday called for greater cooperation among northeastern states, saying they could achieve much more by working together towards common goals.
Addressing the second day of the Seven Sisters’ Cultural Meet at Zokhua in Falkawn near Aizawl, Hmar said the Northeast should not be viewed as separate from the rest of the country, asserting that its people were an integral part of India.
He said that while the northeastern states had distinct cultures and identities, their close geographical and historical ties provided a strong foundation for unity.
“Each northeastern state has achieved significant things on its own, but by working together with a common goal, we can accomplish much more than what is possible individually,” Hmar said.
Welcoming representatives from the seven other northeastern states, the minister urged them to experience the region’s diverse traditions and cultural heritage and share their experiences with people back home.
Representatives of the northeastern states showcased their respective traditional and cultural heritage at the event.
The two-day meet, organised under the theme “Unity in Diversity: The Northeast Symphony”, was held at the initiative of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
The first day of the event was held on Friday at the Tribal Research Institute (TRI) in Kelsih near Aizawl.
