Rangia (Assam), Nov 4 A man killed his wife before dying by suicide in Assam’s Kamrup district, a police officer said on Wednesday.
The incident took place at Bardonga Batakuchi village, near Rangia, on Tuesday night, Co-district Superintendent of Police Dhrubajyoti Nath said.
The accused, identified as Imdad Ali, killed his wife, Mabiyara Begum, at their residence and fled the scene, he said.
The incident came to light on Wednesday morning when neighbours found Begum’s body.
Ali’s body was later found hanging from a tree in a nearby village, Nath said.
Neighbours told police that the couple had been facing domestic problems and frequently quarrelled, which might have led to the incident, he said.
“We have recovered the weapon used in killing the wife. Both the bodies have been sent for post-mortem,” Nath said.
“A case has been registered and investigation is on,” he added.
