Hyderabad, Sep 15: BRS working president and former Telangana minister K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) has strongly condemned the alleged attack on his PRO Mahesh and PA Mahendar Reddy inside Hyderabad’s Saifabad Police Station, demanding a comprehensive inquiry by a sitting judge.
KTR alleged that nearly 15 people forcibly entered the police station and launched a group attack on the two, describing the incident as “an extremely heinous act.” He accused the Revanth Reddy government of allowing a “rule of rowdies and goons” in Telangana.
The BRS leader alleged that Mahesh and Mahendar were deliberately called to the police station as part of a politically motivated vendetta and were attacked in the presence of police personnel. He further alleged that the Chief Minister had a role in the incident and said the delay from morning until evening indicated that the attack had been planned in advance.
KTR also claimed that the High Court had clearly directed that no action be taken against the concerned persons until further orders, but alleged that the attack was carried out despite the court’s directions as part of political harassment.
He held Chief Minister and Home Minister Revanth Reddy directly responsible for the incident and demanded immediate security and better medical treatment for the injured Mahesh and Mahendar Reddy.
KTR further demanded that all CCTV footage from inside and outside the Saifabad Police Station be preserved immediately. He called for the identification of everyone involved in the alleged attack and strict punishment against those responsible, warning that the BRS would not remain silent if action was not taken.
In a strongly worded post, KTR said that mob violence does not necessarily begin with killing and warned that attacks carried out inside police stations in the presence of uniformed officials could eventually lead to violence on the streets.
He said the alleged attack on his PRO and PA could happen to any Telangana citizen who refuses to “bow down to oppression” and warned that the state was heading towards “absolute chaos.” Taking a political swipe at the Congress leadership, he concluded his post with, “Well done Congress, Rahul Gandhi.”
