Sriharikota, Sep 4 : India Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on Friday successfully launched EOS-05, an advanced Earth observation satellite, aboard the GSLV-F17 from here.

GSLV-F17 is the 19th flight of India’s Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) and the configuration of GSLV-F17 Payload Fairing is 4 m dia Ogive (composite) version.

The GSLV-F17 vehicle has placed EOS-05 satellite into a Sub-Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (Sub- GTO).

“Mission Success! GSLV-F17 has successfully accomplished its mission, placing EOS-05 into the intended orbit,” ISRO said in a post on X.

ISRO chief V Narayanan said earth observation satellite continuously scans India for safety, security of citizens, it’s not a ‘spy satellite.

EOS-05 is a state-of-the-art Earth observation spacecraft. It is India’s first ever imaging satellite from Geosynchronous orbit.

At over 2,300 kg, this is the heaviest satellite ever to be carried by a GSLV and the satellite was perfectly ahead in its trajectory.
