Bilaspur (HP), Nov 3 The Himachal Pradesh State Commission for Women organised a special court here to address grievances of women and resolved 10 of the 34 listed cases, a statement said on Tuesday.

The court proceedings were held at the deputy commissioner’s office here on Monday evening and were presided over by commission chairperson Vidya Negi.

A total of 34 cases were listed and 24 were taken up for hearing. The commission successfully resolved 10 cases, while the remaining 14 cases were kept pending for further proceedings, the statement said.

In four of the pending cases, the concerned parties were granted additional time to resolve their disputes through mutual understanding. These cases will be taken up again after the stipulated period, it said.

Speaking on the occasion, Negi said the complaints brought before the commission were primarily related to domestic violence, family disputes, sexual harassment, violation of women’s rights and other forms of violence and atrocities against women.

The commission remains committed to protecting women’s rights and ensuring timely access to justice, she said.

The commission will organise awareness camps and special courts in various districts of the state, Negi said.

“The initiative aims to ensure that women do not have to travel long distances to district headquarters to seek justice and can get their grievances addressed closer to their homes,” she said.
