Gorakhpur, Nov 3 BJP MP and actor Ravi Kishan on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, and asserted that BJP national president Nitin Nabin’s proposed visit to Gorakhpur would sound the bugle for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.

Kishan challenged Gandhi to defeat Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the 2029 Lok Sabha elections, saying, “If you want to defeat Modi ji, fight elections and defeat him in a democracy.”

Targeting Gandhi over his recent programme at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan, the Gorakhpur MP said, “Rahul ji’s relaunch at Ramlila Maidan has flopped.”

He claimed the gathering had fallen short of the numbers announced by the Congress leader and said the country was no longer with “dynastic politics” but was supporting Modi.

Referring to opposition allegations of vote theft and objections to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, Kishan alleged that the Congress and other parties questioned electronic voting machines (EVMs) and raised such claims only after losing elections.

He also questioned the opposition’s objections to the electoral roll revision, citing the BJP’s victories in the 2014, 2019 and 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Accusing opposition parties of disrupting parliamentary proceedings, Kishan alleged that they were undermining constitutional institutions by holding what he termed a “mock Parliament”. He also claimed, without providing details, that some opposition movements were driven by foreign funding.

The BJP MP further accused the Congress of making anti-national statements and alleged that certain political parties were attempting to foment terrorism and riots.

Reacting to the Samajwadi Party chief’s Purvanchal tour, Kishan expressed confidence that the BJP would return to power in UP in 2027 under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s leadership.

He claimed opposition candidates would lose their security deposits and the BJP would surpass its 2017 assembly election performance.

Kishan described Nabin’s proposed programme in Gorakhpur on Wednesday as a historic event, claiming that more than 50,000 party workers would participate in the proposed BJP padyatra, ‘Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao’.

“The entire Purvanchal will come alive with his arrival,” he said, adding that workers from several districts would attend the programme.

He said senior BJP leaders, state leaders and ministers were expected to attend the event, along with Chief Minister Adityanath.

Kishan appealed to party workers to participate in the programme and said the proposed padyatra would serve as a launchpad for the BJP’s campaign for the 2027 assembly elections.
