Gandhinagar, Nov 6 The crime branch in Gujarat’s Banaskantha district on Friday returned silver ornaments worth Rs 27.44 lakh stolen during a heist to their rightful owner under the state government’s ‘Tera Tujhko Arpan’ programme.
The police had solved the loot case that occurred in the jurisdiction of Deesa Rural police station in April, and the stolen valuables were formally handed over to the original owner by Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi, a release stated.
According to the police, the heist took place on April 21, 2026, when employees of a wholesale silver jewellery firm in Ahmedabad were travelling to Dhanera. Unidentified persons intercepted their vehicle, assaulted them and decamped with 12.16 kg of silver ornaments worth Rs 27.44 lakh.
The Banaskantha LCB team cracked the case within a few hours with the help of technical and human intelligence, arresting four accused, seizing their car and recovering the entire stolen property, they said.
