Amaravati, Sep 25 Andhra Pradesh Minister K Atchannaidu on Friday directed officials to survey crop losses caused by the recent heavy rains triggered by the deep depression.
The minister directed officials to visit flooded fields, assess the condition of crops and advise farmers on draining excess water and managing excess moisture.
“Atchannaidu directed officials to immediately survey the crop losses caused by the deep depression and gales,” a press release said.
In rain-affected areas, the state Agriculture minister directed officials to create awareness among farmers on measures to salvage the remaining crops.
The minister stressed the need to conserve rainwater, saying ponds and other water bodies should be filled to meet future irrigation and drinking water requirements.
