Kaushambi (UP), Nov 8 Terming Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav and his family “Ramdrohis”, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Sunday said that once Yadav’s proposed visit to the Ayodhya Ram temple is officially announced, he will raise a few questions.

During a meeting with BJP workers in Kaushambi, Maurya expressed confidence that the BJP will form a majority government in Uttar Pradesh for a third consecutive time in 2027.

He later visited his ancestral home in Sirathu to seek his mother’s blessings and meet other family members.

Speaking to reporters, Maurya said, “Akhilesh Yadav’s family is a family of ‘Ramdrohis’ (traitors of Lord Ram). Hence, they do not respect the sentiments of Lord Ram’s devotees. The Samajwadi Party is frightened. In the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, the BJP will secure a victory with a large majority and form the government for a third consecutive time.”

He said the party has high expectations from Kaushambi. In the 2017 Assembly elections, the BJP won all three seats here. The party expects to similarly emerge victorious in Kaushambi in 2027, Maurya said.

On Akhilesh Yadav’s proposed visit to the Ram temple, Maurya said he does not wish to comment on the matter at present.

“There has been no official communication from the Samajwadi Party, nor has Akhilesh Yadav himself issued any statement. There is no reason to respond to statements made by individual candidates from the party. Once an official announcement regarding a visit to Ayodhya is made either by the party or by Akhilesh Yadav himself, I will raise a few questions,” Maurya said.

Emphasising that there are no restrictions on anyone wishing to visit a place of pilgrimage, the deputy chief minister said he will put forward his questions once the schedule for Yadav’s visit to Ayodhya is finalised.

Former Samajwadi Party MLA Pawan Pandey on Saturday announced that party chief Akhilesh Yadav will visit the Ram temple on December 12, drawing criticism from the BJP, which had been targeting Yadav for not visiting the temple over “appeasement politics”.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had commented that “those who fired on Ram devotees, subjected saints to lathicharge” should only visit the Ram temple after apologising to devotees and saints.
