New Delhi, Nov 7 The BJP on Saturday took a swipe at Akhilesh Yadav following reports that he will visit the Ram temple in Ayodhya soon, saying the Samajwadi Party (SP) chief may even start chanting ‘Jai Sri Ram’ in the run-up to Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls if Hindus demonstrate more unity.
The reaction came after former SP MLA Pawan Pandey said on Saturday that Akhilesh Yadav and his wife Dimple Yadav will visit the Ram temple in Ayodhya on December 12. They will also visit the Hanumangarhi temple the same day, Pandey, who has again been named SP candidate from Ayodhya, told reporters in Ayodhya.
BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said the “power of Hindu unity” is compelling Yadav to visit the Ram temple if the announcement about his Ayodhya visit has some credence.
“First, it remains to be seen whether he goes there at all. And even if he does visit as a ‘chunavi Hindu’, I would say to the Hindu community that they have shown a bit of unity, and look, those who once opened fire at ‘kar sevaks’ are now talking about paying a visit to the Ram temple,” the BJP Rajya Sabha MP told reporters here.
“Show a little more unity, and they will even start chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’,” Trivedi added.
