New Delhi, Nov 4 A Sweden-based company has shown interest in cleaning Yamuna river, Water Minister Parvesh Verma said on Wednesday.
Verma met a representative of the company, which specialises in sewage sludge management and held discussions on international cooperation.
“We are open to working with organisations that can bring practical, technology-driven and sustainable solutions. Our focus is not limited to cleaning the river but also on strengthening the entire water and wastewater management system of Delhi,” Verma said.
The company expressed keen interest in contributing to Delhi’s efforts towards improving sewage and sludge management and exploring possibilities in this sector, he added.
“This interaction reflects the increasing attention being given to Delhi’s Yamuna rejuvenation mission by international technology companies and specialised organisations,” the water minister said in a statement.
According to officials, Delhi’s adoption of international technology is also translating into action. Already, Finland-based Aquamec’s Watermaster amphibious dredging technology has been deployed for work in the Najafgarh drain.
