Jaipur, Oct 22 A woman and her two children were killed and another child was seriously injured when a Rajasthan Roadways bus collided head-on with a tempo in Rajasthan’s Jalore district on Thursday, police said.

Police have seized both vehicles and detained the bus driver.

The accident occurred near Bharudi village on the Ramsey-Bhinmal state highway.

Ramseen SHO Arvind Kumar said the deceased were identified as Lalita Devi (42), her son Kailash (19) and daughter Suman Kumari (17), residents of Muthla Kamba village.

Lalita’s eight-year-old son Raju sustained serious injuries and is undergoing treatment.

Police said the family was returning home after visiting a temple in Ramsin when their tempo collided with a Roadways bus travelling from Bhinmal towards Udaipur.

Five people were travelling in the tempo driven by Lalita’s brother Purushottam. He escaped unhurt after jumping out of the vehicle during the accident, police said.

Lalita worked at an Anganwadi centre, while her son Kailash operated a hired taxi. She had recently purchased the tempo for him during Navratri.

Further investigation is underway, the SHO said.
