Dehradun, Oct 22 The Special Summary Revision (SSR) of electoral rolls will begin in poll-bound Uttarakhand on November 12, with January 1, 2027, as the qualifying date, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) BVRC Purushottam said on Thursday.

He made the announcement at a meeting with representatives of political parties, according to an official statement.

He said that the draft electoral roll will be published on November 12, with the last date for filing claims and objections set on December 11, 2026.

Hearings for claims and objections will be held until December 28, and the final electoral roll will be published on January 4, 2027, Purushottam said.

During the claims and objections period, a voter can submit a maximum of 10 ‘Form-7’ applications.

According to the Election Commission, SSR involves reviewing the voter list and unveiling a draft electoral roll.

It is often held prior to elections and aims to uphold a just and transparent voting process by adding newly eligible voters, including those who have reached 18 years of age or changed their constituency. It also involves the elimination of duplicate and deceased voters, it said.

Parties were also given a detailed presentation on the proposed schedule for the First-Level Checking (FLC) of EVMs and VVPATs, which will start in the state on Friday.

Purushottam said more than 1 lakh Form 6 applications were received during a special drive from October 12 to October 20.

He said a special camp was organised at every polling station from October 8 to October 10 to add the voters left out of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process.

After the three-day camp, BLOs conducted house-to-house verification visits from October 12 to October 20, where teams identified electors to ascertain their present status and facilitate enrollment through Form 6, wherever a person was found to be eligible, the statement said.

Before the SIR, there were 84,29,459 electors. But after the revision, the numbers dropped to 71,58,949.

Between January 2025 and August 2026, 4,34,620 voters were added, while 17,05,130 voters were deleted, the statement said.
