Ranchi, Nov 3 BJP national president (minority cell) Kunwar Basit Ali on Tuesday alleged that the law and order situation in Jharkhand had deteriorated, claiming that tribal people, women and minorities were no longer safe in the state.
He also alleged that the benefits of various central welfare schemes were not reaching ordinary people despite the Centre providing funds for the state’s development.
“Jharkhand’s deteriorating law and order is a major concern. No one is safe in Jharkhand, whether tribal people, women or minorities. Incidents of murder, rape, robbery and other crimes are making newspaper headlines daily,” Ali said at a press conference at the BJP headquarters here.
Referring to an alleged incident in Seraikela-Kharsawan district, he claimed that a woman who had approached a police station seeking justice and protection was raped inside the premises.
“There are allegations that the victim was threatened in an attempt to suppress the matter. Protectors have now turned predators here,” he alleged.
In another incident in Godda district, the principal of a private missionary school was accused of sexually exploiting a woman over a prolonged period on the pretext of providing her with a job and forcing her to undergo an abortion, Ali claimed.
“The government’s silence on these incidents exposes its complete lack of sensitivity,” he alleged.
Ali further accused the INDIA bloc government of making false promises to tribal and minority communities to secure their votes during the elections.
“After coming to power, it forgot the commitments made in its manifesto. Both these communities feel cheated,” he alleged.
The BJP leader also accused the state government of misusing funds allegedly generated through illegal mining.
“The state government is using the funds extorted from illegal mining for political activities and for transporting people to Delhi for protests, instead of using them to address the problems faced by the public,” he alleged.
