Bhopal, Nov 3 The ruling BJP in Madhya Pradesh will organise a ‘padyatra’ or foot march here on Wednesday with the pledge of ‘Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao’ (save democracy, remove anarchy).
Union minister J P Nadda and Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, along with other senior party leaders, are set to participate in it.
The BJP’s state unit president Hemant Khandelwal, ministers, party office-bearers, and all public representatives will participate in this march, the party’s state media in-charge Brijgopal Loya said in a statement.
“This massive padyatra, organised with the pledge of ‘Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao’ will start from Atal Path, Platinum Plaza, TT Nagar at 10 am on November 4 and will reach Roshanpura,” he said.
Approximately one lakh people will take part in the padyatra, he claimed.
The Madhya Pradesh unit of the Congress has written to Khandelwal, requesting that the event be postponed or rescheduled, citing the festivals and public interest.
Congress leader Abhinav Baroliya, citing Dhanteras festival, said that this time of year is a significant business occasion for traders, and that obstructing access to markets and disrupting public amenities due to a political event would be inappropriate.
The BJP is organising a nationwide ‘Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao’ march to counter the campaign launched by the Congress and other opposition parties against the Special Intensive Review (SIR) and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Before the Bhopal march, the BJP had already organised similar events in Jabalpur and Indore.
