Jaipur, Oct 22 A national motorcycle rally aimed at spreading awareness against drug abuse and promoting national unity reached Albert Hall here on Thursday, where Rajasthan DGP Rajeev Kumar Sharma and senior police officers welcomed the riders.

Riders from central forces, including the CRPF, BSF, ITBP, CISF, NDRF, NSG and SSB, along with various police organisations and state police forces, are participating in the rally.

Rajasthan Police riders also joined the rally in Jaipur.

Addressing the participants, Sharma said the riders might have different uniforms, languages and food habits, but they shared a common goal of building a drug-free India.

He said Union Home Minister Amit Shah had set a target of making India drug-free by 2029 and urged people to collectively work towards achieving it.

“The riders are not merely travellers but ambassadors of a drug-free India. Their real strength lies in discipline,” Sharma said.

The DGP also administered a pledge to the participants to stay away from drugs, promote a drug-free society, uphold national unity and refrain from serving intoxicants at social gatherings.

He announced that Rajasthan Police would soon launch a comprehensive campaign against drug abuse, adding that its roadmap had already been prepared.

Additional Director General of Police V K Singh said the rally arrived in Jaipur on Wednesday evening and the riders were welcomed at Amer Fort.

The rally will proceed towards Chittorgarh and Udaipur on October 23 and Gandhinagar on October 24, he said.
