Lucknow, Oct 24 BJP leader Pankaj Singh on Saturday flagged off tractor-trolleys carrying ration kits for flood-affected families in Faizullaganj here.

As part of a campaign to provide relief to 10,000 needy families, the Noida MLA, son of Defence Minister and Lucknow MP Rajnath Singh, flagged off around 20 vehicles from the Maharishi University campus on IIM Road in the morning.

The campaign has been launched at the Defence Minister’s initiative, according to a press release.

Pankaj Singh said essential food items were being delivered door-to-door to help flood-affected families.

He said projects worth over Rs 300 crore had been approved for Faizullaganj’s flooding problem following a meeting involving Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Rajnath Singh and local MLA Neeraj Bora,

The projects, including flood pumping stations and embankments, would be launched soon, he added.

The kits, provided with the support of the Akshaya Patra Foundation and Maharishi University, contain flour, rice, pulses, cooking oil, salt, sugar, spices, potatoes and onions.

Rajnath Singh has been regularly monitoring the situation and coordinating with the chief minister, district administration and officials to review relief and rescue operations, it said.

On October 10, he interacted with flood-affected families through a video call and directed officials to ensure timely assistance. Relief material was also delivered by boats in areas where waterlogging had made access difficult.

Several localities, including Daudnagar, Mama Colony, Durgapuri, Bhargav Colony and Ganesh Vihar Colony, were covered under the relief operations.

Bora, Rajnath Singh’s special officer K P Singh, public relations officer Raghavendra Shukla and BJP workers were among those present at the flag-off event.
