Malappuram (Keralam), Oct 24 Keralam Local Self-Government Minister K M Shaji on Saturday said a world-class academic campus would be established for the Kudumbashree to support the growth of the women’s self-help network and its entrepreneurial activities.
The campus would help women find academic solutions to their entrepreneurial needs and challenges, he said, describing Kudumbashree as a major movement that had grown from poverty eradication to bringing quality products to the market.
Shaji was speaking after inaugurating a meeting to form the organising committee for the Kudumbashree National Saras Fair, scheduled to be held here from December 22 to 31.
He said the fair would be a historic success as it brought together one of India’s largest women’s networks.
An all-women network, the Kudumbashree’s initiatives aimed to bring women confined to their homes into the economic mainstream and encourage them to take up entrepreneurship, he said.
The minister also stressed the need for young women with a clear understanding of business and modern marketing strategies to join hands with Kudumbashree.
The national fair, organised to promote entrepreneurship, women’s empowerment and cultural exchange, will feature more than 300 product and food stalls from different states, officials said.
A major attraction will be a food court showcasing traditional cuisines and fusion dishes from 14 states. Live demonstrations of pottery and handicraft-making, along with special training activities for children, will also be organised.
The fair will feature talk shows with prominent personalities, traditional cultural programmes, an open canvas, open mic, photo booth and reels competition.
An amusement zone featuring traditional games and a safe children’s corner will also be set up, they added.
