Chennai, Oct 24 AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami on Saturday slammed the Tamil Nadu government, accusing the administration of presiding over a “total collapse” of law, order, and social justice in the state.
Reacting to a series of recent violent and tragic incidents, Palaniswami, in a statement, pointed to the brutal murder of a woman inside her home near Sathankulam in Thoothukudi district, the mysterious disappearance of a young boy who sought lift near Uthangarai in Krishnagiri district and the death of a student resulting from alleged caste discrimination at a government-aided school in Coimbatore.
He alleged that these harrowing events expose deep vulnerabilities in public safety and administrative oversight.
Directing sharp criticism at the ruling dispensation, Palaniswami questioned the effectiveness of the government’s frequently invoked promises of social justice and equity, contrasting high-level political rhetoric with the grim realities on the ground.
Taking a satirical dig at the state’s law enforcement climate, he alleged that criminals appear to be operating with reckless impunity, emboldened to the point of modelling themselves after cinematic figures.
The former Chief Minister also voiced grave concern over the recurring pattern of missing children across various districts, citing ongoing unresolved cases in Sriperumbudur and Gingee alongside the recent disappearance in Krishnagiri.
Emphasising the profound emotional distress inflicted upon helpless parents, he demanded that the state administration treat these incidents as an interconnected pattern rather than isolated anomalies.
Palaniswami urged the government to take immediate, unyielding legal action against the perpetrators involved in the Sathankulam and Coimbatore tragedies, while intensifying multi-angle search operations to trace and safely recover all missing minors.
