Mumbai, Oct 28 Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali says he is still keen to work with National Award-winning actor Fahadh Faasil after their earlier attempt to collaborate on a Hindi project did not work out.

Ali was set to work with the Malayalam star on “The Idiot of Istanbul” but the project did not materialise.

“I want to work with Fahadh Faasil, we tried to, but things didn’t work out. We are in touch with each other and keen to work together. So, at some point of time, I hope to have the pleasure of working with Fahadh,” Ali told PTI here on the sideline of a film festival here.

The filmmaker also addressed reports about the casting of his upcoming production “Heer Ranjha”. There have been reports that claimed actors Sara Arjun and Rohit Saraf would feature in the project.

“Not all of it is true,” Ali said when asked about the casting reports.

Directed by his brother Sajid Ali, “Heer Ranjha”, will be the second installment to the “Laila Majnu” franchise, carrying forward its love legend and deep-rooted connection with audiences.

Released in 2018, “Laila Majnu” featured Triptii Dimri and Avinash Tiwary. The film was considered a flop after its release, but was praised after its re-release in 2024.

Ali is producing the new project with noted producer Ektaa Kapoor.
