Mumbai, Nov 3 The Maharashtra government is positive about implementing the “Haryana pattern” for contractual workers and will take further steps after receiving the recommendations of a committee, Labour Minister Akash Fundkar said on Tuesday.

“The government is positive about implementing the Haryana pattern for contractual workers in Maharashtra,” and was awaiting the report of the committee headed by the Labour Commissioner, he said at a meeting with representatives of the RSS-affiliated Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) at the Mantralaya.

The northern state, notably, has enacted the Contract Labour (Regulation And Abolition) Haryana Amendment Act, 2016.

The minister also said that a meeting would be arranged between BMS representatives and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to discuss the issues related to the Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) scheme.

At Tuesday’s meeting, various issues concerning workers, including welfare measures for domestic workers and proposed schemes for construction workers under the new labour laws, were discussed, Fundkar said.

National secretary of the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh Anil Dumane and state president Kiran Milgir were present at the meeting.
