Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday assured complete support to farmers facing severe drought conditions in Marathwada, and said that the government and civil society have joined hands to provide relief to agrarian communities.
Addressing a gathering in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Fadnavis lauded local industrialists for contributing Rs 6.33 crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
The chief minister attended the staging of ‘Praudh Pratap Purandar’, a play based on the life of Maratha king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
“There is a shadow of drought in Maharashtra and Marathwada. The farmers need support and help. In such a situation, organising a play based on the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj will help the farmers to stand against all odds,” he said.
He said that the state government stands firmly with farmers, while society and industry were also coming forward to extend support.
Organisations have decided to distribute 1,000 water storage tanks to villages along with sewing machines for the women, he said.
The state government has declared drought in 304 out of 358 tehsils where Trigger-1 and Trigger-2 were activated during the 2026 Kharif season.
Meanwhile, the chief minister also flagged off 34 electric buses procured by the city civic body and inaugurated a newly built synthetic athletic track at the Divisional Sports Complex, costing Rs 12.75 crore, and other facilities on the campus.
The city civic body staff also handed over their one-day salary of Rs 11.9 lakh to Fadnavis as a contribution to drought relief.
