Rudrapur (Uttarakhand), Nov 3 Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami launched a sharp attack on the Congress, saying the party should undertake a ‘Prayashchit Yatra’ (journey of atonement) instead of holding ‘Nyay Yatra’ (march for justice), for their own tenure in power.
During a public rally in Rudrapur, held as part of the BJP’s ‘Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao’ march, Dhami described the Congress regime as one riddled with corruption, crimes against women, and atrocities. He also accused Rahul Gandhi of playing politics over issues concerning Sanatan Dharma, the armed forces, and the nation’s honour.
Congress is attempting to mislead the public by organising the Nyay Yatra, even though the people are still demanding accountability for the corruption and atrocities that occurred during the Congress’s rule, he said while addressing the gathering at Gandhi Park.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi resides in the hearts of the nation’s people. In contrast, Congress leaders, driven by political frustration, are making irresponsible and baseless statements.
“Whenever the Congress was in power, the general public suffered due to corruption, crimes against women, and systemic disorder. Even while out of power, the Congress has failed to act as a constructive opposition,” said Dhami.
The chief minister further accused Rahul Gandhi of questioning the valour and gallantry of the armed forces and said that army personnel perform their duties under challenging conditions to ensure the nation’s security.
Referring to the purification row in Haldwani, Dhami said people from all castes and sections of society live together in Uttarakhand in a spirit of mutual harmony. He accused Congress leaders of attempting to sow confusion within society for political gain, adding that the people of the state would not allow these political agendas to succeed.
An alleged purification ritual was performed by a right-wing group at Ramlila Maidan after Kharge addressed a public rally on August 8.
Several senior BJP leaders, including national vice president and state co-in-charge Arvind Menon, MP Ajay Bhatt, and State president Mahendra Bhatt also participated in the meeting and questioned the policies of the Congress.
