Sahibganj (Jharkhand), Oct 28 Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Wednesday directed Sahibganj Deputy Commissioner Deepak Kumar Dubey to ensure immediate and proper medical treatment for a boy from Borio block suffering from a rare medical condition.
The CM issued the directive on his social media handle to the Sahibganj Deputy Commissioner, taking cognisance of a media report about the 14-year-old boy, Jeet Rakshit, a native of Bengali Tola in Borio Bazar area of Sahibganj, diagnosed seven years ago with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a rare medical condition.
The media report claimed, citing the boy’s parents, that the rare genetic disease causes progressive muscle degeneration, making him entirely dependent on his father, Munna Rakshit, for daily activities.
The report also claimed that the family members were unable to meet the medical expenses for the treatment of this disease, which is in lakhs of rupees.
The official communication from the chief minister’s secretariat said that the deputy commissioner has not only been directed to arrange for the medical treatment of the boy by linking with government schemes but also to inform the secretariat on the treatment part.
“The Sahibganj district administration is tasked with coordinating the required medical assessment and funding support to guarantee the child receives specialised care,” said an official at the chief minister’s secretariat.
