Ranchi, Nov 2 Jharkhand BJP leaders and workers took out a march here on Monday to mobilise public support against opposition parties’ alleged attempt to destabilise elected governments of the saffron party across the country.

Led by state BJP president Aditya Sahu, the march started from Ranchi’s Morabadi ground and covered around 1.5 km before culminating at Birsa Munda Museum at Jail Chowk.

Senior BJP leaders, including Union Minister Jual Oram, former central minister Arjun Munda, Ranchi MLA CP Singh, Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi and the party’s Jharkhand in-charge Gajendra Patel joined the padyatra.

The march was part of the BJP’s nationwide ‘Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy’ campaign.

Oram said, “The Congress doesn’t respect democracy, Parliament and constitutional institutions. The party mocked democracy by organising a mock parliament.”

He claimed that Congress’ event in Delhi on Sunday was a flop show.

Prominent leaders of the INDIA bloc addressed a rally at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi on Sunday against alleged electoral irregularities and the SIR exercise, and claimed that the BJP formed governments at the Centre and in states with a “stolen” mandate.

“Rahul Gandhi himself said the Prime Minister would not go anywhere. It means he accepted that Modi is permanent PM. The BJP will again come to power in 2029,” Oram, the Tribal Affairs Minister, told reporters.

The Jharkhand BJP chief claimed that the Congress has been misleading people by spreading rumours.

“The opposition parties are accusing the BJP of ‘vote chori’. If such an allegation were true, the BJP would have formed a government in Jharkhand. People understand their false narrative,” Sahu said.

He also alleged that the law and order situation has deteriorated under the JMM-led coalition government in the state.

“Women in the state are not safe. A woman who went to seek justice was raped inside a police station. Protectors have now turned predators, while Chief Minister Hemant Soren is busy attending a rally in Delhi,” Sahu claimed.

He was referring to an incident in Seraikela-Kharsawan district where a woman was allegedly raped inside a police station by a constable. She had gone to the police station to lodge a complaint.

Responding to the BJP’s march, Jharkhand Congress president Keshav Mahto Kamlesh described it as a political photoshoot.

“The march led by the BJP was not a serious effort to protect democracy, but merely a photoshoot. If the BJP is truly willing to save democracy and rid the nation of anarchy, it must first address the serious questions being raised regarding the impartiality of the Election Commission and demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar,” Kamlesh said in a press statement.

JMM spokesperson Manoj Pandey said, “The party which is in power is taking to the streets for democracy. It is ridiculous. It is afraid of the INDIA bloc. The BJP has lost its mental balance.”

RJD state spokesperson Kailash Yadav said the BJP should now understand the movement would reach every village in the country after the INDIA Bloc’s rally at Ramlila Ground in Delhi.
