Kolkata, Nov 2 A contractual employee working at the West Bengal assembly canteen was found unconscious inside a washroom on the premises on Monday morning and declared dead after he was taken to a hospital here, police said.
The 46-year-old man, identified as Umesh Chandra Das, had been working at the assembly canteen for around 15 years.
“He was found unconscious inside the washroom of the canteen at around 9.10 am and was taken to Kolkata Medical College and Hospital, where doctors declared him dead,” a senior officer said.
No external injury marks were found on his body, he said, adding that no complaint has been received in connection with the incident.
“Arrangements are being made for an inquest and post-mortem examination to ascertain the cause of death,” the officer said.
A team of the homicide wing of the detective department of Kolkata Police visited the spot, he added.
