Bengaluru Nov 2: YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy visited the girl who was seriously injured in an attack at a Zilla Parishad High School in Rapthadu, Anantapur district. The girl is currently receiving treatment at Manipal Hospital in Bengaluru.

During his visit, Jagan spoke to the doctors and enquired about the girl’s health condition and the treatment being provided to her. He also met the girl’s family members and offered them emotional support.

YS Jagan Raises Concerns Over Drug Abuse in Andhra Pradesh

Speaking after meeting the victim, Jagan blamed the widespread availability of intoxicating substances, including ganja, for contributing to the deteriorating law-and-order situation in Andhra Pradesh.

He expressed concern over the safety of students in schools and questioned how an unidentified person could enter a school carrying a saw and attack girls.

“What is the situation of children studying in schools? Ganja and illegal liquor outlets have become widely accessible in villages and streets. The government should be ashamed of its failure to control these activities,” Jagan said.

He also questioned the security arrangements at the school and raised concerns about how the attacker was able to enter the premises and carry out the assault.

YS Jagan Demands ₹50 Lakh Compensation

Jagan demanded that the Andhra Pradesh coalition government provide ₹50 lakh in financial assistance to the injured girl’s family.

He said the government should bear the full cost of her medical treatment and ensure that the family receives the necessary support during this difficult period.

Jagan also assured the family that the YSRCP would help arrange medical treatment if the government failed to provide assistance.

“If the coalition government does not provide the required support, our government will give ₹50 lakh to the girl’s family when we return to power,” he said.

The YSRCP chief reiterated that his party would stand by the family and extend assistance wherever necessary.

Jagan Criticises Government Over Law and Order

Jagan also criticised the coalition government over what he described as deteriorating law and order in Andhra Pradesh.

Referring to the incident, he alleged that the government’s approach to law enforcement and its implementation of the Red Book policy had contributed to a climate of fear and disorder.

He further alleged that the availability of ganja and alcohol in villages was creating serious concerns for public safety.

Jagan claimed that the Rapthadu incident was the ninth such incident in the area over the previous 15 to 16 months.

Doctors Express Hope for the Girl’s Recovery

During his visit to Manipal Hospital, Jagan spoke with the medical team about the girl’s condition and the treatment she was receiving.

He said the doctors had expressed hope that the girl would recover, offering some reassurance to her family.

Jagan also conveyed his support to the family and stressed the importance of ensuring that the victim receives comprehensive medical care.

School Safety and Medical Support Remain Key Concerns

The attack has raised concerns about student safety and security arrangements at educational institutions.

Jagan called for stronger action against the availability of illegal drugs and liquor, arguing that the government must take responsibility for protecting children and preventing such incidents.

His demand for ₹50 lakh in compensation and full medical assistance has also brought attention to the support required by families dealing with serious incidents of violence.

The immediate priorities remain the girl’s recovery, continued medical care and appropriate support for her family.
