Tirumala, Sep 22: A leopard was spotted near the Alipiri footpath leading to Tirumala, triggering panic among devotees on Tuesday.
The leopard was reportedly seen sitting on a tree near the 2,765th step of the Alipiri walkway. The sighting caused fear and concern among devotees who were trekking towards the Tirumala temple.
In view of the potential threat to devotees, security personnel stepped up vigilance and began allowing pilgrims to proceed in groups rather than individually, as a precautionary measure.
The movement of devotees is being closely monitored to ensure their safety while necessary precautions are being taken following the leopard sighting.
The Alipiri footpath is a major trekking route used by thousands of devotees travelling on foot to the Tirumala temple.
