Bhubaneswar, Nov 7 Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday said the foundation stone for the mega steel plant in mineral-rich Keonjhar district would be laid soon.
Addressing an official function at Raikala, his birthplace in Jhumpura block, Majhi said the proposed plant would further strengthen the district’s contribution towards building a prosperous Odisha and a developed India.
“I am firmly committed to transforming Keonjhar into a modern and leading district, both within the state and the country. The foundation stone for the long-awaited mega steel plant in Keonjhar will be laid soon,” he said.
Majhi also said work on setting up a large textile park and a disaster recovery and data centre in the district was progressing rapidly.
Officials said the proposed greenfield steel plant, with a capacity of 5 million tonnes per annum (MTPA), is likely to be set up through a joint venture between JSW Steel Ltd and South Korea’s POSCO Holdings.
