Mumbai, Nov 6 The Election Commission of India (ECI) has decided to give another opportunity to voters whose names were excluded from Maharashtra’s draft electoral rolls under the ASDD (Absent, Shifted, Dead and Duplicate) category during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.

The draft electoral rolls for all 288 Assembly constituencies in Maharashtra were published on August 31 this year following the SIR exercise.

In a press release issued on Friday, the Chief Electoral Officer’s office said voters concerned can now submit their enumeration forms to the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) or Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO) at their current ordinary place of residence.

The election authorities will make efforts to contact these voters through Booth Level Officers (BLOs), either personally or through WhatsApp, email or SMS, it said.

They can also download and fill in the enumeration forms by entering their EPIC numbers on the Chief Electoral Officer’s website or through the ECINET platform, the statement added.

“BLOs will coordinate with polling booth-level representatives of political parties to reach the voters. They will also seek assistance from neighbours, relatives, residents and resident welfare associations to contact them and explain the process of submitting the forms,” it said.

Voters who have not shifted from their original place of residence will have to explain in Annexure-B why they could not submit their enumeration forms earlier.

Those who have shifted will have to provide their new address and Assembly constituency details in Annexure-C. They can submit the forms to the ERO or AERO concerned with their current place of residence.

The list of voters under the ASDD category is available on the Chief Electoral Officer’s website, the release said.

“Voters whose names figure in the ASDD list and who have not submitted Form 6 for inclusion in the electoral rolls after publication of the draft rolls have been advised to fill in the enumeration form online or offline and contact the concerned election officials. However, those who have already submitted Form 6 after publication of the draft rolls do not need to fill in the enumeration form again,” it said.

A total of 2,06,88,487 voters were left out of Maharashtra’s draft electoral roll after the SIR exercise. A total of 14.1 lakh Form 6 applications seeking inclusion had been received by November 1, including voters left out of the draft roll and first-time voters.

The Election Commission had received 92,436 Form 7 applications for deletion and 6.75 lakh Form 8 applications for corrections.
