Hyderabad, Nov 6 In a push towards safer kitchens, energy efficiency and sustainable household practices, Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), under the Union Ministry of Power, unveiled a strategy to accelerate the adoption of electric cooking (e-cooking) across the country under the National Efficient Cooking Programme (NECP).

With a special focus on household safety and environmental sustainability, the initiative seeks to take the benefits of modern electric cooking technologies beyond workplaces and into homes, EESL said in a release here on Friday.

Launched by Union Minister for Power Manohar Lal, the NECP is an important step towards transforming household cooking ecosystem through energy-efficient electric cooking solutions, it said.

Marking the occasion of Diwali, EESL CEO Akhilesh Kumar Dixit unveiled a report on accelerating e-cooking solutions and technologies, it said.

He also announced a public and household offer featuring a 1,200W induction cooktop with compatible cookware at Rs 6,990 per unit, it said.

Highlighting the significance of the initiative, Dixit said Diwali and Dhanteras are occasions when families come together.

E-cooking offers households an opportunity to preserve these cherished traditions while embracing safer, cleaner and more energy-efficient cooking practices, he said.

Induction cooking eliminates open flames and combustion within the kitchen, substantially reducing the risks associated with conventional flame-based cooking, including fire hazards and accidental gas leakages.

EESL is positioning e-cooking not merely as an alternative cooking technology but as a practical component of the country’s larger clean energy transition, the release said.

Wider adoption can help reduce dependence on imported fossil fuels, improve energy utilisation and strengthen the country’s long-term energy security, it said.

As part of its strategy, EESL is making available a range of energy-efficient induction cooking solutions to address diverse household requirements, the release added.
