Itanagar, Nov 6 The Centre has released Rs 1,476 crore to Arunachal Pradesh under tax devolution as part of a Rs 1.09 lakh crore transfer to all states, providing additional financial resources to the state governments to accelerate development projects, infrastructure creation and welfare programmes.

Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, who also holds the Finance, Planning and Investment portfolios, said this in a social media post on Friday, expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for the financial assistance.

“The release of Rs 1,476 crore to Arunachal Pradesh under tax devolution is more than a financial allocation; it provides the state with greater room to plan, prioritise and deliver on its development commitments,” Mein said in a post on X, describing the release as an important boost to the state’s development priorities.

He said the additional resources would help the government sustain its development momentum, strengthen the delivery of welfare programmes and advance its vision of making Arunachal Pradesh more prosperous.

“My sincere gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for this timely support,” Mein said.

The Union Finance Ministry released a total of Rs 1,09,019 crore to state governments on Thursday, advancing the regular monthly instalment by five days from its scheduled date of November 10 in view of the festive season.

The Finance Ministry said the advance release was aimed at enabling states to accelerate capital expenditure and meet development and welfare-related spending requirements during the festive season.

Tax devolution is the constitutionally mandated transfer of a share of the Centre’s tax revenues to state governments, providing them with resources to meet expenditure requirements and undertake development activities.

The 16th Finance Commission has recommended retaining the states’ share at 41 per cent of the divisible pool of central taxes for the 2026-27 to 2030-31 period, a recommendation accepted by the union government.

The Union Budget for 2026-27 has estimated tax devolution to states at Rs 15.26 lakh crore, compared with Rs 13.93 lakh crore in the revised estimates for 2025-26.
