Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 5 Chief Minister V D Satheesan on Thursday reviewed the vision and roadmap for Mission Samudra, an initiative aimed at tapping Keralam’s maritime potential and boosting economic growth.
In a post on X, Satheesan said the state’s coastline and seas could become the foundation for a new phase of prosperity, investment and employment opportunities.
He said the government aimed to strengthen ports and create fresh opportunities for coastal communities and future generations by harnessing the state’s maritime resources.
“Our seas have shaped our history. Now, they hold the promise of a new era of prosperity, opportunity and growth. Today, I reviewed the vision and roadmap for Mission Samudra.
Our ambition is to unlock Keralam’s maritime potential, strengthen our ports and create new opportunities for our coastal communities and future generations. The sea has always been our strength. Now, it must become the foundation of our future,” the CM said.
Mission Samudra, announced in the 2026-27 state budget with an allocation of Rs 400 crore, seeks to integrate Keralam’s coastline, ports and water resources with its inland transport and economic networks.
The initiative envisages strengthening connectivity between ports and waterways and road and rail networks, industrial centres and logistics hubs to develop an integrated maritime infrastructure.
It also seeks to expand the maritime economy beyond conventional port operations, shipping and cargo handling by bringing together infrastructure, industry, education and research to create a broader maritime ecosystem, government sources said.
