Lucknow, Nov 3 Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday condemned the circulation of alleged objectionable remarks about Lord Ram’s father and demanded that all programmes of those who made them be cancelled.
He said such remarks could disturb social harmony.
Sharing a 41-second video clip along with an X post, while refraining from explicitly naming Dhirendra Krishna Shastri, the spiritual head of Bageshwar Dham, Yadav asked who was behind such “anti-Sanatan remarks”.
“Who is activating these anti-Sanatan elements, and at whose behest? First, a controversial video about Lord Krishna surfaced, and now objectionable remarks about Lord Ram’s father are being circulated,” Yadav said.
During a recent Ram Katha in Madhya Pradesh’s Karera, Shastri had compared the physical forms of Lord Ram and Lord Krishna, inviting criticism from seers and devotees.
Would the political patrons of those involved approve of such remarks, Yadav asked, asserting that such comments were completely unacceptable to him.
“All their programmes should be cancelled for the crime of disturbing social harmony. True followers of Sanatan Dharma will now write their slips,” he said in the X post.
On Monday, Yadav had demanded punitive action against Shastri over his alleged controversial remarks on Lord Krishna, saying that the matter should be taken up at the highest level.
Yadav alleged that derogatory comparisons between revered Hindu deities were aimed at undermining the unity of the Sanatan community.
Following objections from members of the religious community, Shastri clarified that he had no intention of creating differences between the two deities, according to the reports.
In a post on X, accompanied by a video of Lord Krishna wielding the Sudarshan Chakra, Yadav had described the alleged remarks as “extremely unfortunate and objectionable”.
The Samajwadi Party chief had alleged that the remarks “appeared to reflect the designs of someone working behind the scenes” and warned that “failure to check such statements could create an atmosphere of discord and resentment in society”.
He had said people across political parties and their supporters had united in opposing the alleged remarks and urged “those claiming to represent Sanatan traditions to speak out against them”.
